Cefazolin Sodium Salt, USP is a first generation cephalosporin.  It is a semi-synthetic, broad-spectrum β-lactam with bactericidal activity.  It can be used to study penicillin binding proteins, especially PBP2 and PBP4 on the synthesis of bacterial cell walls.  Cefazolin Sodium is sparingly soluble in aqueous solution.
