Sartorypyrone B is a pentacyclic meroterpenoid metabolite isolated from Aspergillus (syn. Neosartorya) species. While sartorypyrone B possesses no antibiotic activity against S. aureus, P. aeruginosa. B. subtilis and E. coli, it is nonethelesss capable of selective potentiation of ciprofloxacin, ampicillin, oxacillin and cefotaxime against E. coli, S. aureus and E. fecium.
The mode of action of Sartorypyrone B is not understood at this time.
