Spinosyn D, >90% (6-methyl-spinosyn A) is the minor component of Spinosad and makes up to 15% of Spinosad. Spinosyn D differs from Spinosyn A by having a methyl group instead of a hydrogen atom at position C6 on the macrolide. Spinosyn D is a potent insecticide for crop protection. The spinosyns have a unique mode of action involving disruption of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
Spinosyn D is soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF and DMSO.
