Metformin is a common first line antidiabetic drug, and the only FDA approved member of the biguanide drug class. More recently it has drawn attention from the cancer research sector. Several clinical trials for the use of metformin in the treatment of cancer have been performed.
Metformin hydrochloride is freely soluble in water, and slightly soluble in alcohol.
